In his first matchup against his former team since joining Atlanta, Corey Kispert delivered a standout performance, setting a new career high in scoring against the Wizards, according to Lauren Williams of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Kispert finished with 33 points and six rebounds, helping the Hawks secure a victory in a game they controlled from start to finish without ever falling behind.
The performance carried extra meaning given his history with Washington, where he spent several seasons before the trade.
“This game meant more to him. He’d been there for a long time,” teammate CJ McCollum said.
“For me, I had a cup of coffee, some tea there. I just figured out my directions on how to get the facility without a GPS when I got traded. He spent some real time there, so I’m glad he’s doing that.”
Kispert has played 5 seasons for the Wizards and Hawks. He has averaged 10.9 points and 2.8 rebounds in 333 regular-season games.
