The San Antonio Spurs survived the Toronto Raptors 110-107 to extend their season-best win streak to 10 games on Wednesday.
Devin Vassell dropped 21 points, De’Aaron Fox added 20 for the Spurs, overcoming Victor Wembanyama’s cold shooting with 12 points on 3-of-12 shooting.
Raptors’ Brandon Ingram missed a three-pointer that would have tied the game. Wembanyama grabbed the rebound and finished with eight boards and five blocks in 30 minutes.
Fil-Am Dylan Harper contributed 15 points, Stephon Castle had 13, and Julian Champagnie had 10 as they won their fifth straight against Toronto.
On the other hand, Ingram had 20 points and a season-high 11 rebounds, Immanuel Quickley scored 20, and Scottie Barnes added 15 as the Raptors lost their third straight at home.
Meanwhile, rookie Collin Murray-Boyles got the start against Wembanyama, but exited in the third because of a sore left thumb.
Wembanyama missed all four of his field-goal attempts in the first half, but there was no missing when Champagnie fed him for an alley-oop dunk 38 seconds into the third quarter.
Both teams were tied at 69-all midway through the third, but the Raptors managed to close the quarter with a 21-9 run.
The Spurs regained the lead 93-92 through Luke Kornet’s dunk with 7:26 remaining after Toronto missed eight straight shots to begin the fourth.
Both teams will play a road game next: the Spurs at Brooklyn on Thursday, while the Raptors at Washington on Saturday.
