Devin Vassell scored 25 points as the San Antonio Spurs dominated the Toronto Raptors 123-89 on Sunday.
Julian Champagnie added 20 points, while rookie Stephon Castle contributed 15 in the win. San Antonio led by as many as 38 points and secured its third straight victory.
Sandro Mamukelashvili chipped in 13 points, including a three-pointer early in the fourth quarter that gave the Spurs their biggest lead at 103-65. The team has now won five of its last seven games.
Scottie Barnes led Toronto with 22 points, six rebounds, and six assists. RJ Barrett, returning from a three-game absence, scored 18 points, while Jamal Shead added 17.
The Raptors struggled offensively from the start, finishing the first quarter with more turnovers (10) than field goals (6). San Antonio capitalized by scoring 18 points off those miscues, outscoring Toronto 36-16 in the period.
Without Immanuel Quickley and Jakob Poeltl, who were rested, and Chris Boucher, sidelined due to illness, the Raptors were short-handed. Despite Barnes’ strong effort, the team lost its fourth straight game.
San Antonio improved to 31-39 and ended a three-game road skid. Toronto, now 24-37, has dropped five of its last six.
