Anthony Edwards scored 34 points, including five 3-pointers, as the Minnesota Timberwolves held off the Portland Trail Blazers 124-121 on Tuesday night at the Moda Center.
Jaden McDaniels added 29 points, six rebounds, three assists, two steals, and five blocks to anchor Minnesota’s balanced attack.
Donte DiVincenzo contributed 19 points and five 3-pointers, while Julius Randle added 13 points, seven rebounds, and six assists. Rudy Gobert recorded 19 rebounds and altered multiple shots on defense despite scoring just 10 points.
The Timberwolves connected on 17 of 35 attempts from 3-point range, narrowly outshooting Portland, which went 14 of 35 from deep in a game with 15 lead changes.
Jrue Holiday led the Blazers with 22 points, while Jerami Grant added 18 and Donovan Clingan posted 11 points with 15 rebounds. Scoot Henderson came off the bench to contribute 19 points, six rebounds, and five assists.
Minnesota controlled the pace with high-percentage shooting, finishing 47-88 from the field (53%) and converting 13 of 19 free throws. Portland shot 42-89 (47%) overall and 23-30 from the line, struggling to secure second-chance opportunities despite 44 total rebounds.
The physical contest featured frequent shifts in momentum, but the Timberwolves’ efficient 3-point shooting proved decisive down the stretch.
The victory marked Minnesota’s fourth win in its last five games, improving the team’s record to 35-22 and keeping them firmly in the Western Conference playoff hunt. Portland fell to 27-30 after losing a tight contest that tested their depth.
Minnesota will travel to face the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday night, while the Trail Blazers host the Chicago Bulls at home.
