The Philadelphia 76ers visit the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday, February 22, with major absences shaping the matchup at Target Center.
The 76ers (30-26), currently sixth in the Eastern Conference, will be without franchise center Joel Embiid, who is listed as out due to right knee injury management and right shin soreness. The former MVP is averaging 26.6 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.9 assists in 31 games this season.
Philadelphia will also be without Paul George, who is serving a league suspension. The veteran forward has posted 16.0 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game in 27 appearances.
MarJon Beauchamp remains out on a G League two-way assignment, while Johni Broome is sidelined with a right knee meniscus tear.
Kelly Oubre Jr. is available despite left knee injury recovery and is expected to wear a brace. He is averaging 14.3 points and 4.7 rebounds across 34 games.
With Embiid unavailable, the offensive load falls heavily on Tyrese Maxey, who is producing 28.9 points and 6.7 assists per game while logging 38.6 minutes per night.
The Timberwolves (35-22), sixth in the Western Conference, will also be missing a key defensive anchor. Rudy Gobert is out due to league suspension. The four-time Defensive Player of the Year is averaging 11.2 points and 11.3 rebounds while shooting 70.6% from the field.
Minnesota lists Naz Reid as questionable with right shoulder soreness. Reid is averaging 14.3 points and 6.4 rebounds and provides spacing as a stretch big.
Enrique Freeman is out on a two-way assignment, while Rocco Zikarsky is available under the same designation.
With Gobert sidelined, more defensive responsibility shifts to Jaden McDaniels and Julius Randle in the paint. The Timberwolves remain powered by Anthony Edwards, who is averaging 29.5 points on 49.4% shooting and 40.1% from three.
Minnesota enters the game on a three-game winning streak, including a 122-111 victory over Dallas in its most recent outing. Philadelphia has dropped four straight, most recently falling 111-126 at New Orleans.
