After missing out on France’s successful Olympic Qualifying campaign in Manila, Utah Jazz big man Rudy Gobert will play for Les Bleus at the Rio Games next month.
The 24-year-old has been recovering from an ankle injury, which kept him out of the qualifying rounds but Gobert took to Twitter to announce that he will travel to Rio next month.
C'est avec plaisir que j'annonce que je serai présent à Rio avec mes frères pour défendre les couleurs de la France! #RoadToRio 🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷

Translated, it reads: “It is with great pleasure that I announce that I will be present in Rio with my brothers to defend the colors of the France!”
He is likely to replace Adrien Moerman.
France are in Group A of Rio Olympics and are housed with USA, China, Venezuela, Australia and Serbia.
