Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry will still be sidelined for their first game after the All-Star break on Thursday night against the Boston Celtics, per ESPN’s Anthony Slater.
Fortunately, high-profile addition Kristaps Porzingis is expected to make his team debut against the Celtics, after telling the reports he was ready, despite being listed as questionable
Warriors shooting guard ‘De’Anthony Melton compares the team adding Porzingis to the Spurs having Victor Wembanyama.
“He’s a matchup nightmare for a lot of teams. You see with the Spurs, you have Wemby, who’s 7-a lot, and the stuff he can do and the matchup nightmares he brings to the table. So I think (Porziņģis being) out there, it’s just going to give us a lot of size and a lot of mismatches that we need. Some teams he’s gonna kill just cause they can’t physically match up with him.”
Meanwhile, head coach Steve Kerr expressed optimism that Curry’s right knee would calm as he might get clearance for Thursday night.
Curry returned to the facility Wednesday night and told the training staff his “runner’s knee” did not feel quite ready to participate in a live scrimmage.
“Just wasn’t where he needed to be. It’s unfortunate. We’ll have an update tomorrow after he goes through his time with the training staff,” Kerr said.
