Although Ayo Dosunmu has quickly become a fan favorite, Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic believes Donte DiVincenzo is likely to keep his place in Minnesota’s starting lineup.
While DiVincenzo doesn’t fit the mold of a traditional point guard, his steady effort, intensity, and competitive approach have made him an important part of a starting group that has performed among the league’s best.
Krawczynski also points out that the 29-year-old has posted excellent on/off-court impact numbers throughout the season.
Meanwhile, Dosunmu has provided a boost in transition play, particularly by helping create more scoring chances for Jaden McDaniels through his fast-paced style.
According to Krawczynski, head coach Chris Finch wants McDaniels to take at least 10 shots per game, something that hasn’t always happened, but Dosunmu’s tempo could help increase those opportunities.
“It’s been pretty good. He’s coming from Chicago, which plays super fast,” McDaniels said.
“I know that some plays, he’s outrunning all of us. He’s helping us run, he’s helping us get better. I just like the energy he brings and the effort.”
Trade rumors and not being named All-Star were hard on Julius Randle. The Wolves know they need him to be himself to make a deep playoff run. Story: https://t.co/RPL55dkhHJ
