The Boston Celtics have completed a trade sending Xavier Tillman Sr. to the Charlotte Hornets, a move that drops Boston below the luxury-tax threshold.
As part of the transaction, Charlotte will also receive $3.5 million in cash considerations.
Boston entered the 2025 offseason deep into the second apron but has since worked its way out by shedding multiple notable contracts.
Despite those cost-cutting moves, the Celtics have remained competitive in the Eastern Conference even while playing without Jayson Tatum.
Tillman has played 6 seasons for the Grizzlies and Celtics. He has averaged 5.2 points and 3.7 rebounds in 274 regular-season games.
He has won 1 NBA championship.
