Jake LaRavia reflected on the Lakers’ 125-109 victory over the Brooklyn Nets, focusing on the team’s performance and returning players. “After we got that initial lead, we kind of just stayed with it. We never let off the gas pedal. I think we just did a good job at staying together and keeping our foot on the gas throughout the whole game,” LaRavia said.
LaRavia praised Austin Reaves’ return from a 19-game absence. “It’s great to finally see him back on the court. Obviously a big-time player for us. Now that we’re getting back healthy, we’re really going to get back into the roll of things,” he added.
On the long eight-game road trip, LaRavia noted its impact on team cohesion. “It’s the longest trip I’ve been on personally. Just big-time for us to get this win to end the road trip. Good momentum going into these next two games with Philly and Golden State,” he said.
The forward also highlighted how having LeBron James, Luka Doncic, and Reaves together changes the team’s dynamics. “We’re going to be a harder team to guard. Austin brings a lot of scoring, and defenses have to draw a lot of attention to him. That’s going to be really good for us,” LaRavia said.
Reflecting on personal highlights, he mentioned off-court experiences. “My wife came out here to New York. We watched a Broadway show, my first Broadway show for the first time. That was pretty cool, but I’m very excited to get home,” he said.
In the game, LaRavia contributed 18 points on 7-of-9 shooting as Los Angeles dominated early, building a 45-23 first-quarter lead. James added 25 points with seven assists, while Doncic scored 24 points and grabbed six rebounds.
Reaves provided 15 points in 21 minutes, sparking a highlight sequence with a steal leading to a James dunk. Deandre Ayton contributed eight rebounds and three assists, while Jaxson Hayes and Rui Hachimura added valuable bench support.
The Lakers finished the road trip 5-3, shooting 54 percent overall and assisting on 25 baskets. Brooklyn struggled despite 48 percent shooting, turning the ball over 20 times and hitting only 10-of-41 from three-point range. Michael Porter Jr. led the Nets with 21 points and 10 rebounds.
Los Angeles returns home Thursday to face Philadelphia, while Brooklyn hosts Orlando the same night.
