Evan Mobley to miss time with calf strain

The Cleveland Cavaliers announced Tuesday that forward Evan Mobley suffered a left calf strain during Monday’s 114-98 win over the Orlando Magic. An MRI confirmed the injury, and Mobley is expected to miss 1-3 weeks while beginning treatment.

Mobley recorded 20 points and nine rebounds in the victory over Orlando, extending Cleveland’s winning streak to four games. The 24-year-old is averaging 17.9 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game this season while playing 33.4 minutes per contest.

Cleveland (28-20) sits fifth in the Eastern Conference, trailing the Detroit Pistons by seven games. Donovan Mitchell leads the team with 29.5 points per game, while Darius Garland contributes 18.0 points and 6.9 assists per outing.

The Cavaliers face the Los Angeles Lakers Wednesday, and Mobley’s absence will force adjustments in the frontcourt rotation. Jarrett Allen and De’Andre Hunter are expected to carry increased minutes alongside Sam Merrill and Jaylon Tyson.

Cleveland will monitor Mobley’s progress closely over the next week, aiming for a return before the team’s road trip begins with games against Phoenix, Portland, and Los Angeles Clippers.
