The Kings are no longer prepared to attach draft compensation to any trade proposal for Jonathan Kuminga, but their interest in the Warriors forward hasn’t gone away, James Ham said on his Locked On Kings YouTube show.
He noted that Sacramento has previously made a straightforward offer involving DeMar DeRozan.
“I do know for a fact that the Sacramento Kings have offered, in the past, DeMar DeRozan straight up for Jonathan Kuminga,” Ham said.
For such a deal to work financially, Golden State would have to add another player to remain below the hard cap, though the analyst indicated the Warriors don’t appear to have a genuine interest in DeRozan regardless.
Ham also touched on Zach LaVine’s situation, saying the guard would “absolutely love to move on from Sacramento,” but acknowledged that LaVine’s max contract makes any move difficult.
He added there had been a brief “ray of hope” surrounding a possible trade framework with the Bucks that included Kyle Kuzma and Bobby Portis.
However, Ham suggested that scenario has grown increasingly unlikely due to Milwaukee’s recent on-court struggles and Giannis Antetokounmpo’s latest calf injury.
