The Grizzlies remain willing to listen to trade proposals involving Ja Morant, who is projected to be sidelined for at least three weeks with an elbow sprain, Marc Stein reports in his latest column for The Stein Line.

That said, teams hoping Memphis might be motivated to sell low on the frequently injured point guard may need to adjust expectations.

Stein notes there is internal pressure on the organization to secure a return that exceeds the team-friendly contracts the Hawks received when they moved Trae Young.

Stein further suggests that if Morant is still on the roster after the trade deadline, some tension could linger between the star guard and the Grizzlies’ head of basketball operations, Zach Kleiman.

According to Stein, Kleiman not only made Morant’s availability known around the league but also publicly supported head coach Tuomas Iisalo during a reported disagreement between the two earlier this season.

Additionally, the team opted not to offer the player a contract extension last offseason despite his eligibility.

Morant has appeared in only 20 games this season and is averaging a career-low 28.5 minutes per game, though he has equaled his career-best mark as a playmaker, handing out 8.1 assists per contest.
