Trade speculation continues to follow Guerschon Yabusele, and the experienced forward/center admitted that his stint with the New York Knicks has not unfolded the way he anticipated, according to Jared Schwartz of New York Post.
“It’s definitely not what I was expecting to [do] coming into the season,” Yabusele said prior to Saturday’s victory in Philadelphia. “I thought it would be a little more different.”
After serving as a consistent rotation player for the Philadelphia 76ers last season, Yabusele has seen his role shrink considerably in New York.
Through 38 games, he’s averaging just 9.2 minutes per appearance and was held scoreless in three minutes of action against his former team on Saturday.
Schwartz notes that the 30-year-old appears receptive to the idea of a change of scenery.
Yabusele recently reshared a post from a French social media account stating, “A trade and a good situation for the captain [of the French national team], that’s all we’re asking.”
Even so, being the focus of trade rumors is still unfamiliar territory for him.
“It’s nothing that I can control,” Yabusele said. “Just try to be smart, preparing, [be] as ready as I can. To go out there when my name is called and to give everything on the court.”
