The Golden State Warriors are evaluating wing and forward options ahead of the trade deadline, sources told Brett Siegel on Clutch Points. Trey Murphy III, Andrew Wiggins, and DeMar DeRozan are among the players linked to potential moves.
Golden State is expected to move Jonathan Kuminga, who requested a trade earlier this month after a benching, though he returned to the rotation due to Jimmy Butler’s season-ending ACL injury. Wiggins, a former Warrior, now plays for Miami following last year’s trade that sent Butler to the Warriors.
Murphy III is having a career season with the New Orleans Pelicans, averaging 22.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game while shooting 38.3% from three. His ability to stretch the floor and create spacing would fit the Warriors’ offensive system.
DeRozan, at 36, remains a consistent scorer for the Sacramento Kings, putting up 18.8 points and 3.3 rebounds per contest while providing veteran leadership. Wiggins contributes 15.9 points and 4.9 rebounds per game for Miami and brings championship experience from his previous stint in Golden State.
The Warriors currently sit at 25-20, eighth in the Western Conference, relying heavily on Stephen Curry’s 27.1 points and 5.1 assists per game and Butler’s 20.0 points and 5.6 rebounds.
Siegel notes that Golden State is prioritizing wing talent over frontcourt additions, suggesting the front office sees forward upgrades as critical to staying competitive in the playoff race.
