Oklahoma City Thunder continued its surge atop the NBA standings with a convincing 136-104 road victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday night at Rocket Arena.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 30 points and Chet Holmgren added 28 as the Thunder improved to a league-best 36-8, reinforcing their status as the top team in the Western Conference.
Gilgeous-Alexander reached the 30-point mark for the 30th time in 42 games this season, further strengthening his case as the reigning NBA MVP and one of the league’s most consistent scorers at 31.8 points per game.
Oklahoma City overwhelmed Cleveland with elite perimeter shooting, tying a season high with 23 made three-pointers and converting 48.9 percent from beyond the arc.
Luguentz Dort drilled five three-pointers and finished with 18 points, while Isaiah Joe contributed 16 points off the bench and Holmgren connected on four triples of his own.
The Thunder took control late in the second quarter, closing the half on a 16-6 run after Cleveland pulled within 50-45 on a three-pointer by De’Andre Hunter.
That spurt, fueled by Joe and Dort, gave Oklahoma City a 66-51 halftime lead and set the tone for the rest of the night.
The game turned into a rout in the final minutes as the Thunder closed on a 23-5 run over the final 3:33, hitting seven of their last shots from deep and finishing 10-of-13 from three-point range in the fourth quarter.
Cleveland endured its worst regular-season loss in nearly two years under head coach Kenny Atkinson, with the margin matching its most lopsided defeat since March 2024.
Donovan Mitchell led the Cavaliers with 19 points, while Jaylon Tyson posted 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Jarrett Allen scored 16 points in his 600th career NBA game, but Cleveland struggled mightily from outside, shooting just 8-of-35 from three-point range.
The Cavaliers fell to 24-20 overall and dropped to 14-11 at Rocket Arena after going 34-7 at home last season.
Oklahoma City achieved the blowout despite being short-handed, with Jalen Williams sidelined by a hamstring injury and both Alex Caruso and Jaylin Williams exiting early due to injuries.
The Thunder will continue their road trip Wednesday in Milwaukee, while Cleveland looks to rebound on Wednesday night in Charlotte.
