Russell Westbrook emphasized ball movement and team effort following Sacramento’s 128-115 win over Washington on Friday. “It was good. It was important for us. We play better when we move the ball, drive it, kick it, make plays for the next person,” Westbrook said.

On the team’s four-game winning streak, Westbrook credited trust and chemistry. “Just trusting in our work and doing a better job of playing together, making the right plays, defending, having each other’s back. To me, it’s as simple as that,” he said.

Westbrook highlighted the impact of Sacramento’s young players. “Playing with guys like Max, Dylan, Precious. It’s good. They’re going to be in the league for a long time, and they got to be able to create their own identity, create their own lane. I think the young guys are doing a good job of just staying true to who they are.”

On his shooting performance, Westbrook felt confident. “Six and nine from three tonight. Feels good. I work on it every day. When the opportunity presents itself to make open shots, I have a lot of confidence in being able to do that.”

Westbrook also spoke about Domantas Sabonis’ return from a 27-game absence. “I thought he did a good job. Happy to have him back, happy to see him back out there healthy, moving with some good pace. He was happy to be back out there, so it was good to get Domas back.”

The point guard acknowledged Dennis Schroder’s return as a boost to the lineup. “Getting help and getting healthier is important,” he said.

Westbrook reflected on mentoring younger players in the league. “It’s important. Been in the league a while, a lot of those guys are 19, 20. It’s mutual respect. My job is to hear from the young guys and also teach while playing and after the game.”

He praised Dylan Cardwell’s energy and celebrations. “I told him it’s important to stay true to who you are. Bring your energy if that’s what you need every night. I’m with him. I love how he’s impacting the game in different ways, and it’s good for our team.”

On longevity in the NBA, Westbrook gave credit to preparation and gratitude. “God willing, I’m very grateful and blessed to have an opportunity to play. To go out and play this game at a high level is a blessing. I take care of my body and don’t take these opportunities for granted.”

Westbrook’s leadership and focus on teamwork have been key as the Kings improve to 12-30, winning three straight home games of their seven-game homestand.
