Josh Giddey has now missed seven straight games for the Chicago Bulls due to a left hamstring strain and will remain out for Wednesday’s game against the Utah Jazz, but his return may not be far off.

Head coach Billy Donovan said Giddey’s recovery is trending well and that his on-court activity is beginning to increase, per K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Sports Network.

Donovan described the current stretch as an important phase in the guard’s rehab, suggesting momentum is building.

The timing matters, as this has been the strongest season of Giddey’s career.

The 6-foot-8 guard is averaging career highs in points at 19.2 per game, rebounds at 8.9, and assists at 9.0, while also shooting a personal-best 38.6 percent from three on 4.8 attempts per game.

Chicago enters the Utah matchup at 18–21 overall, with a noticeable split in results: 15–15 with Giddey available and 3–6 without him.

Donovan also provided an update on Zach Collins, who has been sidelined since late December with a big toe sprain.

Collins is expected to remain in a walking boot for several more weeks and is unlikely to return before the All-Star break.

Injuries have limited the veteran big man to just 10 appearances this season, but when available he has averaged 9.7 points and 5.6 rebounds in 18.4 minutes per game, while shooting 42.9 percent from three.
