Golden State Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga could see a change of scenery as trade discussions heat up, league sources told Michael Scotto, who shared the reporting on the No Dunks podcast.
The Sacramento Kings have shown the most sustained interest, having explored a deal that reportedly involved a protected first-round pick over the summer, though that offer is not currently on the table.
Kuminga, 23, became trade-eligible on January 15 after limited playing time, including nine games missed in the past month due to coach’s decisions.
The Warriors, sitting 22–19 and eighth in the Western Conference, are prioritizing wing players who can shoot and defend alongside Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler in any potential trade.
Through 18 games, Kuminga is averaging 11.8 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.6 assists in 24.8 minutes per contest while shooting 43.1% from the field and 32.0% from three.
Golden State signed Kuminga to a two-year, $46.8 million extension in October, with a $24.3 million team option for 2026-27 and a $1.7 million trade bonus, signaling the team’s expectation of a possible move.
While Sacramento has been the most consistent suitor, other teams including New Orleans, Dallas, Chicago, and Portland have also explored interest in the former seventh overall pick.
The Warriors are focused on acquiring future assets or rotational talent rather than immediate stars, with Moses Moody and Buddy Hield reportedly included in potential trade packages.
Scotto noted that while the Kings are the leading candidate, a finalized deal remains uncertain, with negotiations likely continuing into the coming weeks.
Golden State remains open to keeping Kuminga beyond the February trade deadline if offers do not meet the team’s criteria, prioritizing both competitive balance and long-term roster flexibility.
