The Memphis Grizzlies have communicated to other teams that Jaren Jackson Jr. remains the centerpiece of their long-term vision, regardless of whether they ultimately decide to move Ja Morant.
Internally, the message has been that Jackson is viewed as foundational rather than expendable, even as the organization evaluates broader roster direction.
That stance, however, is expected to be tested if Morant is dealt. Around the league, there is a belief that rival front offices would push Memphis to clarify just how firm its commitment to Jackson really is in a post-Morant scenario.
Any perception of a full reset could invite aggressive inquiries, particularly from teams seeking a cornerstone big man.
Among the clubs likely to explore that possibility are the Atlanta Hawks and the Toronto Raptors, both of whom have been monitoring the market for frontcourt upgrades.
Those same teams have also been connected in recent speculation to Anthony Davis, whose availability has become murkier after he suffered what appears to be a significant left-hand injury earlier this week.
