Toronto Raptors wing RJ Barrett was forced to exit late in the fourth quarter of Friday’s loss in Boston after injuring his left ankle, according to Josh Lewenberg of TSN.ca.

The incident occurred during the closing minutes and immediately raised concern given Barrett’s visible reaction.

Lewenberg reported that Barrett appeared to roll his left ankle and was clearly in significant discomfort, struggling to put weight on it as he made his way off the floor and into the locker room.

The Raptors officially ruled him out for the remainder of the game shortly thereafter, and Lewenberg noted that Barrett is expected to undergo further evaluation to determine the severity of the injury.

Additional context was provided by Tim Bontemps of ESPN, who explained that the injury happened when Barrett came down from a jump and landed on the foot of Sam Hauser, causing his ankle to awkwardly twist on impact.

The team has yet to announce a timetable, with more clarity expected once testing is completed.
