Toronto Raptors continue to survey the trade landscape for help up front as concerns linger around Jakob Poeltl’s back.
With durability becoming a real question, the Raptors have explored higher-end options at center, and Domantas Sabonis has emerged as a name of interest.
Sabonis is currently sidelined with a knee injury, but Sacramento expects him back around the All-Star break. Toronto’s interest appears to be rooted in both fit and stability.
The player offers durability when healthy, elite rebounding, and playmaking from the center spot, traits that could help anchor a Raptors lineup that has lacked consistency inside.
From a financial standpoint, a deal would not be simple.
Sabonis is earning $42.3 million this season and has two guaranteed years remaining after that, totaling roughly $94 million with no team or player options.
Toronto would need to aggregate multiple contracts to make the math work, which would almost certainly require sacrificing depth or draft assets.
Still, Sabonis’ longer-term contract structure may be easier for Toronto to manage compared to other star centers, particularly since it does not come with immediate extension pressure.
If the Kings decide to reassess their core later this season, Toronto could be positioned as a serious but complicated suitor.
