The Charlotte Hornets are reportedly exploring options to strengthen their frontcourt and have engaged in trade discussions with the Sacramento Kings involving ex-All-Star big man Domantas Sabonis.

Charlotte has the financial flexibility to construct a deal using expiring contracts, but negotiations appear to have stalled over draft compensation.

According to Sam Amick of The Athletic, Sacramento is seeking one of the Hornets’ first-round selections in the 2026 NBA Draft, while Charlotte is reluctant to part with either the No. 14 or No. 18 pick.

As a result, a trade does not appear imminent, though the two sides could revisit discussions after the draft.

Sabonis has frequently been mentioned as the Sacramento veteran most likely to be moved, and interest in the three-time All-Star has reportedly existed since last season’s trade deadline.

The 30-year-old remains under contract for two more seasons and is set to earn $45.5 million in 2026-27 and $48.6 million in 2027-28.
