The Chicago Bulls travel to Little Caesars Arena to face the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday, January 7, with tipoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET. Chicago enters at 17-19 on a two-game losing streak, while Detroit owns a 27-9 record and rides consecutive wins.
Chicago’s injury report remains extensive and continues to shape its rotation. Josh Giddey is out with a left hamstring strain, removing a primary playmaker who averages 19.2 points, 9.0 assists, and 8.9 rebounds per game.
Coby White is listed as questionable due to right calf injury management after averaging 18.4 points and 4.6 assists in 17 appearances. Matas Buzelis is also questionable with an illness, and he has been one of Chicago’s most consistent contributors at 14.7 points and 5.3 rebounds per game.
The Bulls will also be without Zach Collins (right first toe sprain), Jalen Smith (concussion), Noa Essengue (left shoulder surgery), and Trentyn Flowers (not with team). Depth could be tested further with Emanuel Miller unavailable due to his two-way assignment.
Nikola Vucevic remains the stabilizing presence for Chicago, posting 16.4 points, 9.1 rebounds, and shooting nearly 40 percent from three. Ayo Dosunmu and Tre Jones are expected to shoulder additional backcourt responsibilities if White is limited.
Detroit’s injury report is lighter but still notable. Cade Cunningham is listed as probable with a right wrist contusion, and the Pistons will closely monitor their lead guard, who averages 26.7 points and 9.7 assists.
Jalen Duren is ruled out with a right ankle sprain, removing a double-double threat who averages 17.9 points and 10.6 rebounds. Tobias Harris will also miss the game with a left hip sprain, impacting Detroit’s frontcourt scoring balance.
Caris LeVert and Duncan Robinson are both listed as probable, with LeVert managing left knee tendinopathy and Robinson dealing with a left calf contusion. Robinson’s availability is significant given his 11.5 points per game and floor-spacing role.
Detroit has momentum after wins over New York and Cleveland, holding opponents under 112 points in both games. Isaiah Stewart and Ausar Thompson are expected to see increased interior and defensive responsibility with Duren sidelined.
The teams have split their two meetings this season, with Detroit winning 124-113 in November and Chicago responding with a 115-111 victory in October.
