Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens owner Dimitris Giannakopoulos signaled a major roster move during an Instagram Live session, describing it as a “huge transfer. A bomb.” He added, “I would have brought in Jordan in his prime just to win the EuroLeague,” highlighting the ambition behind the potential signing.

The Greek powerhouse sits fifth in the EuroLeague standings with a 12-7 record, trailing leaders Valencia Basket and Hapoel Tel Aviv. Panathinaikos has scored 1,679 points while conceding 1,626, reflecting a +53 point differential through 19 games.

Key contributors this season include Kendrick Nunn, averaging 19.8 points per game with 3.6 assists, and Cedi Osman, who posts 14 points per contest while shooting 42.5% from three. Veteran Kostas Sloukas and TJ Shorts add scoring and playmaking depth, but management appears intent on bolstering the roster further.

Panathinaikos also relies on Kenneth Faried’s inside presence, averaging 8.8 points and 7.3 rebounds over 21 minutes per game, alongside Omer Yurtseven, who provides 7.9 points and 4.4 rebounds per night.

The potential transfer comes ahead of a critical double-week for Panathinaikos, hosting EA7 Emporio Armani Milan on Tuesday and Virtus Bologna on Thursday. Both games carry playoff implications as the Greek side aims to consolidate its position in the top four.

EuroLeague competitors like Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul and AS Monaco remain within striking distance, with Fenerbahce holding a 12-6 record and Monaco at 12-7.
