De’Aaron Fox scored 24 points to lead the San Antonio Spurs to a 123-113 victory over the Indiana Pacers on Friday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
Wembanyama hyperextended his left knee in Wednesday’s win over New York and remains in San Antonio for treatment, with coach Mitch Johnson describing him as day-to-day. The Spurs have gone 10-3 in games without the 7-foot-4 star.
Dylan Harper added 22 points, while Stephon Castle contributed 19 as the Spurs controlled the third quarter with a 77-58 lead after a 6-0 run to open the half. San Antonio maintained the advantage throughout the fourth quarter despite Indiana cutting the deficit to 93-85 after three periods.
Pascal Siakam led the Pacers with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Andrew Nembhard scored 19, and Micah Potter added 16 in his first start in five games, but the team fell to its 11th consecutive loss.
Indiana shot 51% from the field, compared with 44% for the Spurs, but San Antonio converted 22 of 28 free throws, capitalizing on key opportunities at the line. The Pacers committed 14 turnovers, allowing the Spurs to convert 16 points off mistakes.
San Antonio’s bench production was critical, with Dylan Harper and Keldon Johnson stepping up to provide scoring and energy in Wembanyama’s absence. The team now looks to continue momentum when it hosts Portland on Saturday night.
The Pacers, struggling to find consistency, will try to end their skid against Orlando on Sunday. Despite solid individual performances, Indiana was unable to contain San Antonio’s pace and transition scoring.
With the win, the Spurs improve to 25-9, while the Pacers remain at 6-29 amid growing questions about consistency and depth.
