Mitchell Robinson is expected to sit out two games over the next four days as the Knicks continue to carefully manage his workload, though there have been no setbacks in his recovery, according to Stefan Bondy of the New York Post.
In addition to missing Wednesday’s matchup against the Spurs, the current plan calls for Robinson to appear in one of the team’s back-to-back games scheduled for Friday and Saturday.
Head coach Mike Brown was quick to dismiss any concern that Robinson may have aggravated the ankle injury that has troubled him in the past.
“It’s all load management,” Brown said, emphasizing that the decision is more about caution than concern.
He also pointed to the demanding nature of the recent schedule, noting that the heavy stretch of games has required a more careful approach to player availability.
With Robinson sidelined, Ariel Hukporti saw an uptick in minutes during the Knicks’ previous game. However, his availability for Wednesday is uncertain due to a mouth laceration.
If Hukporti is unable to play, Trey Jemison could be in line for additional minutes as the team adjusts its frontcourt rotation.
Landry Shamet is making progress toward a return, plus more on the Knicks. https://t.co/xp9epgQMxX
