Brandon Miller led Charlotte with 33 points in Wednesday’s 132-125 loss to the Golden State Warriors, sharing insights on his recent growth and team approach. “The mindset is just, of course, the next man up. They have to be ready, and our preparation showed tonight,” Miller said regarding lineup changes and injuries.
The Hornets star emphasized his focus on finishing at the rim. “I’m just doing whatever my teammates ask me to do, trying to put the team in the best position to win against a great team,” he said about his downhill finishing and ability to adjust to defenders.
Miller addressed his development over the season. “I feel great. Glad to be back playing with my guys, encouraging them on the court. I took that long year out, now I’m helping everybody,” he said, reflecting on his rhythm 35 games in.
He acknowledged the team’s struggles in the fourth quarter. “Just controlling the controllables. Green got a second chance point towards the end that really hurt us, but we keep a next-play mentality,” Miller explained.
The guard also highlighted LaMelo Ball’s impact. “Definitely, he spaces the floor for us. Teams know he can shoot and go. Any help we can get is much needed,” Miller said.
Miller praised PJ Hall’s integration into the team. “Next man up mentality. He’s been doing a great job listening and communicating. That’s all we can ask for,” he noted.
On his evolution as a playmaker, Miller stated, “It’s just the trust we have as a team. Doing whatever my teammates trust me to do, whether it’s handling the ball, coming off a pin down, or guarding. Just trying to do everything I can to win a ball game.”
The forward also reflected on in-game moments. “In the first or second quarter, I had a dunk where the defender didn’t jump. I smiled on my way back, nothing to say to defenders on that one,” he said.
Finally, Miller teased a potential dunk contest appearance. “We’ll see. 2026. We’ll see,” he said, leaving open the possibility of a showcase for his athleticism in the coming season.
