Derrick White scored 27 points, including 13 in the fourth quarter, and blocked a career-high seven shots to lead the Boston Celtics to a 129-119 victory over the Utah Jazz on Tuesday night at Delta Center.
White became the first Celtics guard to record 27 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and seven blocks in a single game, joining just 12 other players in NBA history with that combination.
Jaylen Brown added 23 points and 10 assists, ending his nine-game streak of 30-point performances, tying him with Larry Bird for the longest in franchise history.
Anfernee Simons contributed 20 points, while Payton Pritchard added 18 as Boston secured its fifth win in six games.
Keyonte George led Utah with 37 points despite being listed as questionable before tipoff, while Jusuf Nurkic scored a season-high 26 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Lauri Markkanen added 22 points for the Jazz.
Utah led by 12 points in the first quarter, but Boston’s late fourth-quarter surge, fueled by White, Simons, and Pritchard, expanded the lead to 123-112 with under four minutes remaining, and the Jazz never got closer than seven thereafter.
The Celtics forced 13 Jazz turnovers, converting them into 23 points, while Boston scored only five points off their own eight turnovers, highlighting the defensive edge in the contest.
Both teams displayed strong shooting, with Boston connecting on 51% from the field and 87% from the free-throw line, while Utah shot 47% overall, including 38% from three-point range. White’s seven blocks and Neemias Queta’s three steals stood out amid otherwise high-paced, offense-heavy play.
Boston improves to 20-12 and continues its five-game road trip at Sacramento on Thursday. Utah falls to 12-20 and will visit the Los Angeles Clippers later the same day.
