Josh Hart will miss the start of the New York Knicks’ three-game road trip after spraining his right ankle in Thursday’s game, according to James L. Edwards.

He did not travel with the team and will also be out for games in New Orleans and San Antonio. League sources say Hart is undergoing further testing, with his status to be reevaluated once the team returns home.

The injury occurred late in the fourth quarter of the Christmas Day matchup against Cleveland, when Hart twisted his foot after colliding with Dean Wade.

He stayed in long enough to hit both free throws before heading to the locker room.

Hart’s absence is notable given the Knicks’ recent success. Since he moved into the starting lineup, the team is 11–3, and he’s been highly productive, averaging 12.3 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 5.1 assists while shooting 38.9 percent from three.

There is some positive news as well.

Miles McBride is expected back Monday after missing nine games with an ankle injury, and Landry Shamet has returned to full on-court work as he continues recovering from a sprained right shoulder.
