Tyler Kolek delivered yet another eye-opening performance for the New York Knicks over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Christmas, continuing a stretch that has people around the team taking notice, as noted by Stefan Bondy.

He finished the game with 16 points, including 11 that came in the fourth quarter, along with nine assists.

One of the defining moments of the night came late, when Kolek made a huge defensive play by blocking Donovan Mitchell in transition with about two minutes left, a sequence that helped swing momentum at a critical time.

After the game, Mitchell himself acknowledged the impact of the play, saying, “That is winning basketball, and he’s been unreal, so credit to him. I knew it wasn’t a foul as soon as they called it, so no shock there, but credit to him.”

Performances like this continue to strengthen the case that Kolek is more than just a temporary solution.

Earlier in the season, there had been internal discussion about whether the Knicks needed to explore trades for backup guards, but his steady rise may force a rethink of that approach.

In Bondy’s view, Kolek’s emergence alone could be enough to at least slow down those conversations.
