Desmond Bane scored 23 points and added three steals and three blocks as the Orlando Magic held off a late Portland rally for a 110-106 win on Tuesday at the Moda Center. Anthony Black contributed 22 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and two steals in support of Orlando’s balanced attack.
The Trail Blazers erased a 17-point third-quarter deficit to briefly take a one-point lead early in the fourth, but Tyus Jones answered with a 3-pointer and Wendell Carter Jr. followed with a jumper to regain control. Shaedon Sharpe missed one of two free throws with 38.9 seconds left, leaving Portland trailing 107-106.
Bane sealed the win with a block on Donovan Clingan’s layup and two free throws, while Black added a late foul shot for the final margin. Orlando improved to 17-13, snapping a tough road stretch where the Blazers had twice erased large deficits only to fall short.
Tyus Jones scored 16 points with seven assists, and Wendell Carter Jr. had 14 points and seven rebounds as the Magic shot 44% overall and made 21 of 23 free throws. Paolo Banchero added 12 points, and all five starters scored in double digits.
Portland was paced by Deni Avdija with 25 points, eight assists, and six rebounds. Shaedon Sharpe added 22 points, and Caleb Love chipped in 17 off the bench, but the Trail Blazers fell to 12-18 after another close loss at home.
Orlando will host the Charlotte Hornets on Friday, while Portland hosts the Los Angeles Clippers, looking to end a string of fourth-quarter collapses.
