The San Antonio Spurs have waived two-way guard Kyle Mangas and signed Stanley Umude to a two-way contract, sources told NBA insiders Jake Fischer and Marc Stein on Sunday.
Umude, 26, impressed with the Austin Spurs in the G League this season, averaging 18.5 points, 5.0 assists, and 2.9 rebounds in 35.8 minutes per game while shooting 50% from the field and 41% from three. His performance earned him a call-up to the NBA squad, providing additional depth in the backcourt.
Mangas, 26, who is being waived, averaged 18.5 points, 5.0 assists, and 2.9 rebounds over 10 G League games for Austin this season. He previously spent time internationally with USK Praha, Siauliai-7bet, and in the G League with the Indiana Mad Ants and Vancouver Bandits.
Umude has NBA experience with Detroit and Milwaukee, appearing in 47 career games and averaging 3.1 points per contest. His two-way deal allows him to continue playing for Austin while joining the Spurs roster when needed.
This roster move comes as San Antonio maintains one of the league’s best records at 21-7, with Victor Wembanyama averaging 25.1 points and 12.3 rebounds, while De’Aaron Fox adds 22.1 points and 6.1 assists per game.
