Victor Wembanyama scored 26 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the San Antonio Spurs (20-7) to a 126-98 road victory over the Atlanta Hawks (15-14) at State Farm Arena on Friday night. Devin Vassell added 18 points, including four 3-pointers, as San Antonio extended its strong start to the season.

The Spurs dominated from the opening tip, building a 68-44 halftime lead and outscoring Atlanta 102-72 by the end of the third quarter. San Antonio led for over 47 minutes, allowing starters to rest midway through the fourth.

This game marked Wembanyama’s first double-double since returning from a 12-game calf injury absence, while the center also contributed three assists, two blocks, and a steal. The Spurs reached 20 wins for the season faster than last year, achieving the milestone nearly a month earlier.

Atlanta, without Trae Young and Kristaps Porzingis, relied on Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Jalen Johnson. Alexander-Walker scored 23 points, while Johnson added 17 points and 11 rebounds for his 18th double-double of the season. Despite their efforts, the Hawks were unable to cut into San Antonio’s lead.

The Spurs connected on 54% of their field goals and 36% from three-point range, controlling both ends of the court. San Antonio’s balanced attack and efficient shooting prevented Atlanta from mounting any sustained comeback.

With the win, the Spurs improve to 20-7 and will face the Washington Wizards on Sunday, while the Hawks drop to 15-14 and will host the Chicago Bulls in their next matchup.
