Devin Booker praised his teammate Jordan Goodwin for the game-winning free throw in Phoenix’s 99-98 victory over the Golden State Warriors.
“That he’s going to make it. I trust Goody… I was super confident in him and I’m glad he made it,” Booker said about Goodwin’s free-throws.
Booker reflected on his second-half surge, scoring 23 of his 25 points after halftime. “I took them damn core shorts off… they’re supposed to restrict you from moving, keep my groin safe, but I had it with that. So, that was my last game with those,” he said, highlighting his breakout third quarter of 13 points.
Communication was a focus against Golden State’s top defense, according to Booker. “Just talking more, being even more locked in and sharp… starting with Steph, the head of the snake, it takes five people to defend him. You sleep for one second, it’s a three. You got to stay locked in, talk the whole time,” Booker said.
Booker also addressed Stephen Curry wearing his new shoes in the matchup. “He’s in sneaker free agency… he asked for a few pairs and obviously I sent him all the hot ones. I was happy to see him in them tonight,” Booker said, acknowledging the sneaker exchange while keeping focus on the game.
Phoenix overcame a 14-point deficit, outscoring the Warriors 24-18 in the third quarter to regain momentum. Devin Booker’s scoring surge, combined with Dillon Brooks’ 24 points and Jordan Goodwin’s clutch rebound and free throw, sealed the Suns’ narrow victory.
Booker emphasized the team’s trust and resilience in critical moments. “I trust Goody… this is not our first time being teammates. First one was short, he got that out the way, and we came out on top,” he said, reinforcing the confidence that carried Phoenix through a tight finish.
The Suns improved to 15-12, while Golden State fell to 13-15. Both teams will meet again Saturday in San Francisco to complete the home-and-home series, with Phoenix looking to extend its late-game momentum.
