The San Antonio Spurs have no intention of moving Stephon Castle despite occasional trade chatter, sources told Brian Windhorst on The Ryen Russillo Show. The 21-year-old guard has been highly valued by the organization since his arrival, with the front office seeing him as a perfect complement to Victor Wembanyama.

Castle has delivered strong numbers this season, averaging 18.4 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 6.9 assists in 31.2 minutes per game over 16 appearances. His versatility and court vision have helped the Spurs maintain a balanced offense alongside their star big man.

Windhorst emphasized the Spurs’ admiration for Castle’s competitiveness and work ethic. “They love everything about the way he competes. They love everything about his willingness to improve,” he said, via HoopsHype, noting that the team sees him as integral to their long-term plans.

San Antonio currently holds an 18-7 record, led by Wembanyama’s 25.8 points and 12.6 rebounds per game and De’Aaron Fox’s 23.9 points and 6.2 assists. Castle’s playmaking has been critical.

The guard is in the second year of his four-year, $41 million rookie scale deal and has steadily improved his efficiency.

While other franchises might see Castle as tradeable talent, the Spurs’ front office is prioritizing stability and cohesion, especially around Wembanyama. League executives agree that unless an extraordinary offer emerges, Castle is untouchable in San Antonio’s plans.

The Spurs have built their roster around a core of youth and high-character players, with Castle’s presence seen as key to their championship window.
