Keyonte George and Lauri Markkanen combined for 70 points as the Utah Jazz outlasted the Dallas Mavericks 140-133 in overtime Monday night at Delta Center. The win lifted Utah to 10-15 and marked consecutive victories for only the second time this season.

George finished with 37 points, continuing his recent scoring surge after a 39-point outing Friday in Memphis. The third-year guard set the tone in overtime by scoring Utah’s first five points as Dallas struggled to respond.

Markkanen added 33 points and 16 rebounds, anchoring the Jazz inside while playing nearly the entire night. The forward also contributed defensively with four steals as Utah leaned heavily on its top scorers.

Kyle Filipowski played a pivotal role late, scoring 16 of his 25 points in the fourth quarter and overtime. His interior scoring helped stabilize Utah when Dallas briefly seized control late in regulation.

The Mavericks were led by rookie Cooper Flagg, who poured in a career-high 42 points. The No. 1 overall pick became the first 18-year-old in NBA history to reach the 40-point mark and tied Mark Aguirre for the most points by a rookie in franchise history.

Dallas appeared in control late, leading 124-116 before Utah mounted an 11-0 run. Isaiah Collier capped the surge with a driving basket with 53.6 seconds remaining to pull the Jazz within one possession.

Flagg responded with a basket and drew a foul on the next trip but missed the free throw that would have tied the game. Markkanen answered with a contested baseline jumper to swing momentum back to Utah.

Flagg later made one of two free throws with 4.5 seconds left and intentionally missed the second. Max Christie secured the rebound and was fouled, converting both free throws to force overtime.

The extra period belonged to Utah as Dallas went 1 for 9 from the field. George and Filipowski combined to control tempo while the Jazz capitalized at the free-throw line.

P.J. Washington scored 25 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for Dallas, while Naji Marshall added 15. The Mavericks had won five of six entering the night but fell to 10-17.

Both teams played shorthanded in the frontcourt, with Utah resting Jusuf Nurkic and Dallas holding out Anthony Davis due to a left calf bruise. Utah also opted to sit veterans Kevin Love and Svi Mykhailiuk to extend minutes to its young rotation.

Utah shot 52 percent from the field and outscored Dallas 11-4 in overtime. The Jazz will host the Lakers on Thursday, while the Mavericks return home to face the Pistons.
