ESPN’s NBA insiders recently floated five different trade scenarios involving the Dallas Mavericks big man Anthony Davis, with Bobby Marks breaking down the logic behind each proposal.
From Dallas’ point of view, Marks identified a complex five-team deal as the most intriguing option, one that would land Davis in Atlanta while sending Zach LaVine and two protected first-round picks to the Mavericks.
While trade speculation continues, Davis has been central to Dallas’ recent surge on the court.
As Eddie Sefko notes on the team’s website, the Mavericks have won five of their last six games, leaning heavily on Davis’ two-way impact during that stretch.
His performance against Brooklyn on Friday stood out, as he posted 24 points, 14 rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocks in 33 minutes to help secure the win.
Rookie Cooper Flagg highlighted what makes Davis so effective and consistent.
“He’s one of the best players at his position of all time,” Flagg said.
He pointed to Davis’ understanding of the game as a major separator.
“He knows the game incredibly well. He knows when to pick his spots, when to attack and when he’s getting doubled and where everybody is on the court.”
Flagg added that Davis’ approach never changes regardless of the situation.
“Whatever he’s doing out there, he’s going to be himself and keep it simple. He’s going to make the right play all the time.”
Both Cooper Flagg and Jason Kidd believe trying Flagg at point guard will help him in the long run. Story: https://t.co/Hk2oLBbK6e
