Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd praised his team’s composure and clutch execution following a 119–111 home victory against the Brooklyn Nets on Friday at American Airlines Center. Anthony Davis and Cooper Flagg led the charge, with Kidd emphasizing the team’s ability to respond under pressure.
“B-Will did a great job down the stretch getting stops and attacking, and his pass to AD was critical,” Kidd said, referring to Brandon Williams’ late contributions that helped seal the game.
Kidd noted the complementary scoring between players. “Cooper was really good in the first half, and AD picked it up in the second. When one guy is going, it makes things a little easier offensively,” he explained.
Defensive impact was also a key focus for Kidd. “Anthony’s huge on defense. Blocks, steals, rebounding—he did everything we needed tonight,” he said, highlighting Davis’ three blocks, three steals, and 14 rebounds.
The Mavericks’ preparation during their six-day layoff contributed to their sharp shooting. “The attention to detail in practice carried over. Ball movement was excellent, 33 assists, and we were making plays for each other,” Kidd said.
Max Christie’s consistency and defensive effort drew praise from the coach. “His preparation over the summer shows. He’s been able to start or come off the bench, and tonight he guarded Porter effectively while contributing offensively,” Kidd noted.
Kidd also lauded Cooper Flagg’s all-around game. “Eight assists, no turnovers. He can attack and make plays for teammates, especially in transition, which suits his strengths,” Kidd said.
The coach addressed areas for growth despite the win. “Brooklyn’s pressure bothered us a little, and the Channel Fives caused some turnovers. We’ll practice to improve in those situations,” Kidd said.
The Mavericks improved to 10–16 with the win, marking two straight home victories for the first time this season and five wins in their last six games. They will travel to Utah on Monday to continue a three-game road stretch, while the Nets fall to 6–18 and will host Milwaukee on Sunday.
