The Charlotte Hornets are not expected to pursue Chris Paul despite previous offseason interest, according to reporting from Marc Stein.
Stein noted that Charlotte had explored the possibility of adding Paul during the summer, when the veteran guard stressed his desire to remain close to his Los Angeles-based family and limited his geographic options.
A source familiar with the Hornets’ thinking told Stein this week that Charlotte does not plan to revisit that pursuit, even as Paul signals greater openness to destinations as he evaluates his next move.
Jake Fischer reported that the Clippers intend to work closely with Paul and CAA to find a suitable landing spot, positioning him as a likely candidate to be moved once the league’s December 15 trade window opens.
Fischer added that Los Angeles expects to help Paul identify a role that offers consistent minutes, something that has diminished during his second stint with the franchise before he was sent home by the Clippers.
Paul, 40, has played 21 seasons for seven teams, including earlier stops in New Orleans and Los Angeles, and has averaged 16.8 points, 9.2 assists and 4.4 rebounds across 1,370 regular-season games.
