The Golden State Warriors are expected to pursue Brooklyn Nets center Nic Claxton as trade season approaches, according to reporting from Evan Sidery.

Sidery tweeted that Golden State will be in the market for a center upgrade and is preparing to show interest in Claxton, who is under contract through the 2027–28 season.

He also noted that a potential framework involving Jonathan Kuminga could be discussed, signaling that Golden State may consider parting with one of its most productive young forwards to address its frontcourt needs.

Claxton, 26, is in the second year of a four-year, $97 million deal and is averaging 13.6 points, 7.7 rebounds and 4.5 assists across 30.2 minutes per game for Brooklyn this season.

His rim protection, switchability and passing have been central to the Nets’ defensive scheme, and he currently ranks among their leaders in blocks at 1.4 per game.

Brooklyn, at 6–17, is again open to moving veteran pieces, creating an opportunity for contenders searching for interior impact and defensive versatility.

Golden State sits at 13–12 and has relied heavily on Stephen Curry’s 27.9 points per game and Jimmy Butler’s 19.5 points, but the club has lacked consistent production at the center spot.

Quinten Post is averaging 7.4 points and 4.0 rebounds in 17.5 minutes, while veterans Al Horford and Draymond Green have shifted between roles depending on matchups and availability.

Trayce Jackson-Davis has provided energy in limited minutes but has not yet secured a full-time rotation role, leaving the Warriors without a stabilizing rim presence.

Kuminga, meanwhile, is averaging 12.4 points and 6.3 rebounds in 25.6 minutes and has started 13 of his 17 appearances, giving Golden State athletic scoring and secondary playmaking on the wing.
