NBA insider Jake Fischer reported Wednesday that “the writing is on the wall” regarding Giannis Antetokounmpo’s future in Milwaukee. Fischer noted that Giannis’ agent, Alex Saratsis, told the Bucks this past summer they would re-evaluate the situation about 20 games into the season.

The Bucks, currently 10-16 in the 2025-26 season, have insisted Giannis is not available in trade discussions. Despite the team’s public stance, speculation continues to swirl across the league, fueled by Milwaukee’s inconsistent start and Giannis’ superstar status.

Giannis, sidelined with a calf strain expected to keep him out roughly four weeks, leads the team with 28.9 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game. Kevin Porter Jr. and Ryan Rollins have contributed offensively in his absence, but Milwaukee’s 10-16 record highlights the gap without their two-time MVP.

According to Chris Haynes, Giannis met with teammates to address the rumors, urging the squad to focus on basketball and ignore outside distractions. His leadership remains central to maintaining team cohesion during this uncertain stretch.

The Bucks’ management has reportedly rejected offers from other franchises, emphasizing that Giannis is off-limits. Marc Stein noted that even strong suitors, like the Miami Heat, would need to part with significant assets, such as Andrew Wiggins, to mount a realistic trade, which sources call unlikely.

Giannis’ player option for the 2027-28 season strengthens his leverage, as any acquiring team would need assurances he intends to re-sign. League executives say this adds a layer of complexity for potential trade partners, balancing competitive potential with market appeal.

While Milwaukee maintains its firm stance, league insiders indicate conversations around Giannis’ future are ongoing. Fischer’s report highlights that both the Antetokounmpo family and the franchise are actively considering long-term options, keeping the situation in flux.
