William Guillory of The Athletic reports that Zion Williamson is set to be re-evaluated in three weeks after suffering a grade 2 right hip adductor strain. This update confirms the team’s plan to monitor his progress over a multi-week stretch before determining the next steps in his recovery.

The injury itself occurred earlier this month, and although the projected timetable suggests that Williamson could be back on the court sometime in late December, internal expectations may be more conservative.

Guillory notes that there are people within the organization who do not anticipate a return that soon, as some don’t expect Williamson to return until early January, indicating a belief that the team may opt for caution given his injury history.

Before being sidelined, Williamson had been producing strong numbers, averaging 22.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 4.0 assists this season, showing his continued importance as a central piece of the team’s offense and overall game plan.
