Chet Holmgren and Jalen Williams each scored 25 points as the Oklahoma City Thunder routed the Utah Jazz 131-101 on Sunday at the Delta Center. Holmgren also grabbed nine rebounds, while Williams contributed eight assists in the defending champions’ 15th straight victory.
Aaron Wiggins added 19 points, and Branden Carlson scored a season-high 13, helping Oklahoma City shoot 58% from the field and make 21 three-pointers. The Thunder capitalized on 17 Utah turnovers to score 27 points in transition.
Kyle Filipkowski led the Jazz with 21 points and 10 rebounds, while Walter Clayton Jr. and Taylor Hendricks scored 20 apiece. Clayton also dished out nine assists. Utah was without Lauri Markkanen due to illness, and the Thunder rested Shai Gilgeous-Alexander with left elbow bursitis.
Oklahoma City raced to a 13-1 lead before Utah scored its first basket 3½ minutes into the game. Carlson sparked a 25-7 run with a dunk and three 3-pointers over five possessions, giving the Thunder a 43-16 advantage late in the first quarter. Oklahoma City finished the period with 45 points, continuing a trend of high-scoring starts that has seen the Jazz surrender 86 first-quarter points in their last two games.
The Jazz briefly closed the gap with a 19-3 run in the second half, cutting the deficit to 69-65, but the Thunder quickly reasserted control. Oklahoma City maintained double-digit leads for the remainder of the game and held a 42-point advantage at one stage in the second half.
Holmgren and Williams led a balanced scoring effort, supported by Wiggins and Carlson, while Oklahoma City’s defense forced numerous turnovers that translated into easy points.
The Thunder (23-1) will host Phoenix on Wednesday in an NBA Cup quarterfinal, while Utah (8-15) travels to Memphis on Friday to conclude its five-game road trip.
