Naz Reid hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with 13 seconds left to lift the Minnesota Timberwolves to a 109-106 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday at Target Center. Jaden McDaniels scored 27 points, while Julius Randle added 24 as Minnesota won its fifth straight game.
Reid finished with 19 points off the bench, including five 3-pointers, and made two crucial free throws with 4.8 seconds remaining to seal the win. The Timberwolves overcame an 18-point deficit and shot 44% from beyond the arc, making 11 of 25 attempts.
James Harden led the Clippers with 34 points, moving into 10th on the NBA’s career scoring list after surpassing Carmelo Anthony with a pair of free throws in the third quarter. Kawhi Leonard contributed 20 points and Ivica Zubac had a 15-point, 13-rebound double-double.
Minnesota trailed 56-42 at halftime but responded with a 30-point third quarter, sparked by McDaniels’ three 3-pointers. The Wolves outrebounded Los Angeles 35-28 and outscored the Clippers 70-50 in the paint.
Randle’s efficiency inside and McDaniels’ perimeter shooting kept Minnesota in control in the final minutes. Harden missed a potential tying 3-pointer at the buzzer, ending the Clippers’ seven-of-eight losing stretch on the road.
Anthony Edwards added 15 points and 9 assists, while Rudy Gobert collected 7 rebounds, providing key support for the Timberwolves. Minnesota’s bench contributed 30 points, with Reid leading the charge in the clutch.
The Timberwolves improve to 15-8, setting a season-high five-game winning streak, while the Clippers fall to 6-18. Minnesota will host the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday, and Los Angeles will conclude their road trip at Houston on Thursday.
