Bobby Portis described his role on the 2025-26 Milwaukee Bucks as one of veteran leadership. In an interview with Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson, he said “Just being more of a veteran leader, leading my voice, using my voice, talking, helping as much as I can, and bringing energy every day.”

After six seasons in Milwaukee, the forward emphasized that his leadership has grown, especially on a team ranked among the top ten youngest in the league.

Reflecting on his career, Portis acknowledged the challenge of balancing experience with humility. “I’m in that tough middle part… I don’t wanna be a YN, I don’t wanna be a big bro… I’m right there in the middle,” he said, highlighting his evolution from young player to seasoned contributor.

Portis noted the league’s shift toward a faster, more isolation-heavy style. “Basketball in 2015 was slow. If you scored 110, you probably won the game. Now, 110 ain’t enough… Everybody’s pushing the pace,” he said, emphasizing how players must adapt to the modern, up-tempo game.

On playing with superstars, Portis compared Giannis Antetokounmpo and Dwyane Wade. “Similar in just their approach, wanting to be great… Giannis is a one-on-one type of player… Wade does a lot of Euro stuff… Giannis is more of a transition, catch it, get you on your heels,” he explained, underlining how different styles shape team roles and strategies.

Portis also considered how legends adapt to different eras. “Shaq would be a force in this era… Giannis in his era probably would be different… They play in their right eras, for sure,” he said, noting how rules and playstyle impact a player’s dominance.

Through 23 games this season, Portis is averaging 11.1 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in 21.7 minutes per game, providing consistent production alongside Giannis, who leads the Bucks with 28.9 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 6.1 assists across 17 games.
