Memphis head coach Tuomas Iisalo pointed to interior advantages, disciplined execution and steady locker-room leadership after the Grizzlies closed out a 115–107 road win over Sacramento.
He opened his postgame remarks by highlighting the impact of Zach Edey, who delivered a career-high 32 points and 17 rebounds while shooting 16 of 20 in 29 minutes.
Iisalo noted that the matchup created clear opportunities around the rim and said, “He had a big size advantage inside and we went to him early and often,” crediting how teammates located him in the paint and recognized where the edge existed.
He emphasized that the group consistently fed Edey out of different actions, pointing to Vince Williams Jr. out of ball screens and Jaren Jackson Jr. working from the post as key facilitators of those high-percentage looks.
Memphis hit the road on a three-game winning streak, and Iisalo connected the recent success to how the group has approached practices and adjustments since the start of the season.
He explained that injuries and role shifts early in the year forced the club to adapt, saying the roster “started the season in… chaotic circumstances,” but added that players have “put their heads down, kept working from day to day.”
Iisalo said the progress from film sessions and repetition is giving the roster confidence and stated that this road stretch “brings a lot of belief in the work that we’re doing.”
He also praised the unity inside the locker room, mentioning how the players have been focused on solutions and communication while managing the absence of Ja Morant.
Iisalo said Morant remains actively involved, describing him as engaged and vocal on the sideline and noting that the guard regularly communicates with both coaches and players during games.
He highlighted the steady presence of Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, pointing to the veteran’s influence with the bench group and describing him as “a tremendous veteran leader.”
The Grizzlies built an early advantage behind a 62-point first half, then weathered a Sacramento surge in the third quarter before responding with a 14–2 stretch in the fourth.
Cam Spencer finished with 16 points, Jaylen Wells scored 15, and Jackson added 13, while Caldwell-Pope also supplied 13 off the bench.
Sacramento received 23 points from DeMar DeRozan and 21 from Malik Monk, but the Kings shot 46 percent from the field and went 13 of 22 at the line.
Memphis improved to 4–0 on the road trip while continuing to play without Morant, who has not yet returned to action.
The Grizzlies will look to extend their streak against the Spurs on Tuesday, while the Kings attempt to regroup before hosting the Rockets on Wednesday.
