NBA insider Shams Charania reported on Saturday, November 29, that Golden State Warriors guard De’Anthony Melton will miss the remainder of the team’s homestand but could be activated during the upcoming three-game road trip. Melton has fully participated in practice in recent days and continues to scrimmage with the team.
Melton has appeared in six games for the Warriors last season, averaging 10.3 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game while shooting 40.7% from the field and 37.1% from three-point range.
Golden State, currently 11-10 overall with a 7-2 home record, has relied heavily on Stephen Curry (27.9 points, 4.0 assists per game) and Jimmy Butler (20.2 points, 5.7 assists) for scoring and playmaking. Jonathan Kuminga and Brandin Podziemski have also been consistent contributors, averaging 13.5 and 12.3 points per game, respectively.
Melton’s return will add defensive pressure and secondary scoring to the Warriors’ lineup, complementing the team’s core of Curry, Butler, and Draymond Green. His ability to guard multiple positions and hit timely three-pointers provides a boost in matchups against Western Conference opponents.
The Warriors have struggled on the road this season, holding a 4-8 record away from Chase Center. Activating Melton for the road trip could help stabilize the backcourt rotation and improve spacing for Golden State’s perimeter-oriented offense.
In addition to his contributions this season, Melton brings experience from prior stints with Phoenix, Memphis, and Philadelphia. Over 356 career games, he has averaged 9.1 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game while maintaining a 36.9% three-point shooting mark.
