Jaylen Brown scored 35 points and added eight assists to lead the Boston Celtics to a 138-129 win over the Orlando Magic at TD Garden on Sunday.

Boston improved to 9-8, bouncing back from a tough home loss to Brooklyn on Friday.

Josh Minott contributed 16 points, including 12 in the second quarter, helping the Celtics shoot 81.8% in the period.

Anfernee Simons added 23 points, while Payton Pritchard chipped in 19 points and eight assists as Boston built a 26-point third-quarter lead.

The Magic closed the gap late, cutting the deficit to six points in the final minute, but Brown scored 12 straight points to stabilize the Celtics.

Jett Howard scored a season-high 30 points for Orlando, which played without three of its top five scorers and saw its three-game winning streak snapped.

Desmond Bane added 18 points and Franz Wagner 15, but the Magic could not maintain their offensive efficiency, shooting just 42% from the field.

Boston’s second-quarter surge was powered by Minott, who went 5 for 5 from the floor, hitting two three-pointers, and Pritchard, who scored seven points in a quick 10-3 run.

The Celtics converted their hot streak into a 80-57 halftime advantage after a 32-point second quarter.

Orlando, coming off a victory over the Knicks, was held to 27 points in the first quarter, ending its streak of eight straight quarters with 30 or more points.

Neemias Queta added six points and six rebounds for Boston, while Derrick White chipped in 16 points and five assists.

Boston shot 60% from the field in the second quarter and finished with 53-of-88 shooting overall, making 15 of 33 three-point attempts.

Orlando finished 53-of-100 from the field, including 16-of-38 from three, and Jett Howard’s 30 points highlighted their effort in the absence of key contributors.

The Celtics host the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday, while the Magic continue their road trip at Philadelphia on Tuesday.
