Julius Randle recorded 32 points and 10 rebounds, leading the Minnesota Timberwolves to a 120-109 victory over the Washington Wizards on Wednesday night at Target Center. Naz Reid added 28 points off the bench, helping Minnesota withstand a late Wizards rally.
The Timberwolves led by as many as 27 points before Washington closed the gap in the fourth quarter, with Kyshawn George hitting a 3-pointer to make it 98-93 with 7:06 remaining. Randle’s dunk pushed Minnesota ahead 105-96, and Donte DiVincenzo’s 3-pointer at 1:29 sealed the win.
Minnesota, now 10-5, has won six of its last seven games despite missing forward Jaden McDaniels, sidelined with a sprained left wrist. Randle scored early to give the Timberwolves a 32-24 lead in the first quarter, and Reid’s corner 3-pointer helped extend the lead to 50-29 by halftime.
The Wizards, who have lost 12 straight games, were paced by George’s 23 points and Khris Middleton’s 13. Washington managed to mount a third-quarter surge, narrowing the deficit to 78-67 before Minnesota responded.
Randle’s efficiency and the Timberwolves’ bench scoring proved decisive, with Reid and DiVincenzo providing key contributions in limited minutes. Minnesota shot 45% from the field and 34% from three, while Washington finished at 49% overall and 44% from deep.
The Wizards’ struggles continue, with speculation surrounding head coach Brian Keefe’s future after a 1-13 start. Minnesota now prepares to face the Phoenix Suns on Friday, while Washington travels to Toronto for another tough road test.
